IELTS Task 2 - Q3: Students using technology for better learning

With the help of technology, students nowadays can get more information and learn it more quickly.

Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Introduction/First paragraph

This era of modernization has completely revolutionized the way we access information. This progress has tremendously benefited students, but it is still debatable whether it helps them learn quickly or not.

Points for the second paragraph

  • Unlike physical library spaces, the Internet has opened a 24-hour virtual library for students with a plethora of information available in text, audio, and video formats.
  • It usually takes a few milliseconds to search anything online with information available at the speed of the Internet, i.e. nanoseconds. For example, if a student makes a search on google.com for a project, millions of search results are displayed instantly.

Points for the third paragraph

  • Sometimes, online content can be manipulated and provide misleading or incorrect data. With online advertising becoming a billion-dollar industry, it can be hard to identify legitimate and peer-reviewed data sources.
  • Like print media, many online data sources can quickly become outdated due to a lack of regular updates, resulting in students referring to obsolete material.
  • Sometimes, it can become challenging to concentrate due to a constant stream of distracting content bombardment.

Conclusion

Hence, to conclude, even though technology has undoubtedly changed the landscape of information retrieval and processing, students must diligently review all sources objectively.
